The Mamanucas (pronounced (pronounced mama-nuthas)is a cluster of islands just off the northern coast of Viti Levu (Fiji's main island). The islands are mostly low-lying, small 'teardrop' islands encircled by white sand beaches and turquoise lagoons, and are favoured by those seeking pure relaxation, as well as by those looking for great scuba diving, and other popular watersports. The idyllic location has been used for many Hollywood films, including the 'Blue Lagoon' movies and 'Castaway' (Tom Hanks).
What to see and do ... beautiful sunrises and sunsets, shimmering oceans, coral reefs, turquoise lagoons ideal for swimming and snorkelling and white sandy beaches.
There is an abundance of excellent accommodation, from luxury resorts (perfect for that romantic vacation, honeymoon or wedding) ... to fun-filled family destinations ... to budget travel.
This area is also very popular with cruise vessels, with comfortable cabins, on-board swimming pools, and an ever-changing scenery as you journey through the different islands.
