THINGS TO SEE AND DO
Taveuni is Fiji's third largest island and is known as the 'Garden Island' with its lush rainforested slopes. Peaceful romantic retreats, plus superb diving, waterfalls and other nature activities.
Visit one of the rare places on the earth where the 180 degree meridian crosses land! Include a village trip to see the different cultural activities. If you are a keen birdwatcher, there are many rare birds only found here. Taveuni is a favourite spot for divers who wish to dive the legendary Rainbow Reef - located in the Somosomo Strait. There are many dive operators to choose from. Many resorts also have their own dive operations. Accommodation varies from budget through to luxury, Fijian bure to hotel rooms.
Just offshore from Taveuni are the islands of Qamea, Matagi and Laucala. Each have resort accommodation.
The Lau Group of islands stretches along the East Coast of Fiji to Tonga. The area is not easily accessible for visitors and there is very limited accommodation in this region. Islands in this group include Vanuabalavu, Ono-I-Lau, Moala and Lakeba. The best way to visit is by yacht where you can enjoy private bays and pristine beaches. There are also regular flights and ferries leaving from Suva.
See the main Fiji map for a list of yacht charters and cruises available in Fiji.
