THINGS TO SEE AND DO
Vanua Levu is Fiji's second largest island in what is known as 'the Friendly North'.
Savusavu is popular with tourists for its relaxing and laid-back atmosphere. Steep hills encircle a natural harbour and yacht marina. The town is a popular cluster of rustic buildings, with banks, shops, a local market, small cafes. Don't miss the 'Copra Shed' by the marina, which houses offices, shops, tour operators and the Yacht Club. A short walk away, you can find some natural 'hotsprings' which bubble at the side of the road.
Activities in the area include scuba diving, land-based eco tours and excellent gamefishing. Or hire a car and enjoy a scenic drive in the hills around Savusavu.
Budget and luxury accommodation is both available. Many of the resorts also offer scuba diving.
The town of Labasa is situated on the northern coastline of Vanua Levu, and is the main business centre in this region.
See the main Fiji map for a list of yacht charters and cruises available in Fiji.
